Description

Our sidesaddle cluster crochet pattern not only teaches you how to crochet the sidesaddle cluster stitch but it also explains in detail how to complete the double crochet four together stitch (dc4tog) in easy to follow terms. Although this pattern is not a beginners pattern, I do not think you need to be an expert to master it. Give it a try. It may be easier than you think.

Materials and Supplies

Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.

Abbreviations:
ch = chain
CL = cluster = dc4tog
dc = double crochet
dc4tog = double crochet 4 together
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
st(s) = stitch (es)
tch = turning chain

Craft Instructions

Multiple of 5 sts + 1 (add 1 for base chain)

Special Abbreviation dc4tog = double crochet 4 together - To make a dc4tog, work 1 dc in each of next 4 sts but leave last loop of each dc on hook, (5 loops on hook), yo and through all 5 loops

Row 1: Sc into 2nd ch from hook, *ch 3, dc4tog over next 4 ch ch, ch 1, sc into next ch; rep from * to end, turn
Row 2: Ch 5, sc into next cluster, *ch 3, dc4tog all into next ch 3 arch, ch 1, sc into next cluster; rep from * ending ch 3, dc4tog all into next ch 3 arch, dc into last sc, sk tch, turn
Row 3: Ch 1, sk 1 st, sc into next CL, *ch 3 , dc4tog into next ch 3 arch, ch 1, sc into next CL; rep from * ending last rep with 1 sc into tch arch, turn

Repeat rows 2 and 3
