Description
By working a single crochet stitch through the front loop only on each row, you get a different look than you do when working the basic crochet stitch through both loops. As shown in the photo, when working through just the front loops you achieve a horizontal line across your work.
Materials and Supplies
Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.
Abbreviations:
sc = single crochet
ch = chain
yo = yarn over
Craft Instructions
You can work any number of stitches but add one to the base chain.
1st row: Sc in second ch from hook and each ch across, turn
2nd row: Ch 1, working through front loop only of previous row, sc in first sc and each sc across, turn.
Repeat 2nd row until work is desired length.
Review: A single crochet stitch is made as follows - insert hook, yo, draw up the loop, yo again, draw the yarn through both loops on your work ending with a single loop remaining on hook.
