Description
The blackberry salad stitch has a similar look as the popcorn stitch but it is made using a series of double crochet 5 together which for me, works up more quickly than the traditional popcorn stitch.
Materials and Supplies
Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size H (5.0 mm) crochet hook.
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
dc5tog = double 5 together
rep = repeat
sc = single crochet
sk = skip
st(s) = stitch (es)
tch = turning chain
yo = yarn over
Craft Instructions
Multiple of 4 sts +1 (add 2 for base chain)
Special Abbreviation dc5tog = double crochet 5 together - To make a dc5tog, work 5 dc in next stitch but leave last loop of each dc on hook, (6 loops on hook), yo and through all 6 loops
Row 1 (right side): Sk 3 ch (count as 1 dc), dc into each ch to end, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc into each of the first 2 sts, *work dc5tog into next st, sc into each of next 3 sts: rep from * to last 3 sts, work dc5tog into next st, sc into each of last 2 sts, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc); dc into each st to end, sk tch, turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc into each of first 4 sts, *work dc5tog into next st, sc into each of next 3 sts; rep from * ending sc into top of tch, turn.
Row 5: As row 3
Repeat rows 2 through 5
