Are you looking for a new stitch? Try the Herringbone Double crochet stitch. It is a variation on the basic double crochet stitch. Follow the special abbreviation instructions below for step by step directions. As you will see, just one simple change in the double crochet stitch makes a big difference in the final look of the stitch.
Materials and Supplies
Any weight yarn with the appropriate size crochet hook. Our sample was made using worsted weight yarn and a size G (5.0 mm) crochet hook.
Abbreviations:
ch = chain
dc = double crochet
HBdc = see special instructions below
st = stitch
yo = yarn over
Craft Instructions
Any number of sts (add 2 for base chain)
Special Abbreviation: HBdc (Herringbone Double Crochet) = yo, insert hook, yo, draw through st and first loop on hook, yo, draw through 1 loop, yo, draw through both loops on hook.
1st row: Skip 3 ch (count as 1dc), 1 HBdc into next and each remaining ch to end, turn
2nd row: Ch 3 (count as 1 dc), skip 1st st, 1 HBdc into next st and each st to end, working last st into top of ch3, turn.
Repeat 2nd row.
