Materials and Supplies
Craft Supplies:
- Ivy bowl
- Acrylic paint; white, orange and black
- Clear acrylic spray paint
- Sea sponge
- Paintbrush
- Tea light or battery operated tea light (if making a candle holder)
- Q-tip optional
- Rubbing alcohol and paper towel recommended but not 100% necessary
Craft Instructions
- Wash and dry the ivy bowl thoroughly. Wipe down with rubbing alcohol and a paper towel and let air dry. This will ensure a nice clean finish. Before proceeding, make sure the bowl is completely dry.
- Using the sea sponge, paint the outside of the ivy bowl with white acrylic paint. To paint with the sponge, dip the sponge into the paint and dab it on a paper towel to test the consistency and ensure you don't have too much paint on the sponge. Dab the sponge all over the outside of the bowl reloading as necessary. You do not want a solid finish. Let dry completely.
- With orange paint, paint a carrot nose in the center of the ivy bowl. To paint a carrot, it is basically a long triangle with rounded ends.
- Using black paint, paint two large black dots above the carrot nose for eyes and below the nose paint several smaller dots in the shape of a mouth. You can either do this with a paint brush or dip the end of a cotton swab (Q-tip) into the black paint and touch it to the jar surface where you want a dot. Reload more paint after every couple of dots.
- Once dry, apply one to two coats of clear acrylic spray. Follow the instructions on the can.
