Light switch plates can be decorated in many ways. We have come up with a few here in hopes of inspiring you to make some that fit your style and personality. Fun craft for the whole family!

Materials and Supplies

Textured Sparkle Plate

Little girls will love the sparkles on this one!

Craft Supplies:

  • White plastic light switch plate
  • Disposable knife OR sponge brush
  • Silver glitter
  • Aleene's Glitter snow
  • Clear Acrylic spray; satin finish

Spread a layer of glitter snow on the right side of the switch plate. To give it more of a textured look, pull up on the knife/brush as you spread the snow. Be careful not to cover the screw holes.

While the snow is still wet, sprinkle with glitter. Let dry completely. Once dry, spray on a coat of clear acrylic spray to keep the glitter from falling off and making a mess.

Craft Instructions

Sponge Paint Plate

Craft Supplies:

  • Plain white plastic light switch plate
  • Sea sponge
  • Acrylic paint; yellow and blue

Start with a clean dry light switch plate or outlet cover. Dip the edge of your sea sponge in yellow paint then dab it on the cover. Once you have covered most of the surface, dip another edge of the sponge into blue paint and dab on top of the yellow while it is still wet. You should get a green color with a bit of yellow and blue mixed in. If you would prefer more of the blue to show, let the yellow dry before dabbing with the blue.

Wiggly Eye Plate

Kids will love this wacky light switch cover. It would look cool in a green room with a frog theme.

Craft Supplies:

  • Plain white plastic light switch plate
  • Tacky glue
  • Sponge brush or regular paint brush
  • Wiggly eyes in a variety of sizes.

Start with a clean dry light switch plate. Using a sponge brush or paint brush spread tacky glue on the surface of the plate (on the right side). While the glue is still wet, stick wiggly eyes into the glue covering as much of the surface as you can but being careful not to cover the screw holes. Keep flat on your work surface until completely dry.
