Materials and Supplies
Craft Supplies:
- Clear glass ornament - pear shaped
- Acrylic paint, black and white
- Fine white glitter
- Black felt (we used felt that was sparkly on one side)
- Orange craft foam
- Two 12mm wiggle eyes
- Paint brush
- Tacky glue or hot glue gun with glue sticks
- Disposable cup
Optional: White paint pen - fine tip
Craft Instructions
- Remove the cap from your ornament (the hanger portion)
- Squeeze a little black acrylic paint inside the ornament. Roll it around to completely coat the inside of the ornament. If you need a little more paint add it just a little at a time.
- Place the ornament upside down in a disposable cup with the top off the ornament and leave it overnight to dry. This is very important.
- With white acrylic paint, paint a white oval on the outside of the ornament to form the penguin's belly. The oval should be about 2" tall by 1 1/2" wide.
- While the white paint is still wet, sprinkle some fine white glitter on top of the paint.
- Cut two wings out of black felt and glue one on each side of the ornament. Each wing should be about 2" long.
- Cut a beak (basically a triangle) out of orange craft foam and glue it just above the white belly as pictured. The beak should be about 1/2" wide (at it's widest point) and 1/2" long.
- Glue the two wiggle eyes just above the beak.
- Replace the top of the ornament.
- If desired, personalize your penguin ornament by using a white paint pen to write a name on the back of the ornament along with the year.
