Fabric Sachet Bridal Shower Favor
Using two complimentary fabrics, you can stitch up a sachet in minutes. Sachets are a great project for beginners. Give them as Mother's day gifts, use them as bridal shower favors or just make one to keep your drawers smelling fresh!
Materials and Supplies
Craft Supplies:
- Solid color fabric 10" circle; fabric with a satin finish is nice
- Print fabric 10" circle
- 14" piece of thin ribbon; 1/8" to 1/2" wide
- Potpourri
- Tule 9" circle
- Curling ribbon; 8" pieces
- Sewing machine
- Needle & thread
- Iron
Idea: Make sachets for a little girl's birthday party. Stitch the fabric circle ahead of time and let the girls complete the rest of the sachet as a party activity.
Craft Instructions
- Cut a 10" circle from the solid fabric and one from the print fabric.
- Pin the two circles together with right sides together.
- Stitch around the circles using a 1/4" seam allowance and leaving a 1 1/4" opening.
- Clip curves and turn right side out; Press with an iron.
- Hand stitch opening closed. Set aside for a moment.
- Cut a 9" circle from tulle or purchase precut circles.
- Place potpourri in the center of the tulle circle. Bring the edges of the tulle together and tie them with an 8" pieces of curling ribbon. Curl the ends of the curling ribbon.
- Lay the fabric circle on your work surface print side down and place the tulle pouch in the center of the fabric circle.
- Draw the fabric up and around the tulle pouch. Tie the fabric closed with a 14" piece of thin ribbon.
- Adjust the top of the fabric and it will have a flower like look to it.
