Craft Instructions
Ch 32
Row 1: Dc in second ch from hook and in each ch across; ch 2 turn
Row 2: Working through both loops, 1 dc in each dc; ch 2 turn
Repeat Row 2 until piece measures approximately 15" long. Knot off and weave loose ends in. You now have a rectangle that is approximately 7" w x 15" L Fold the bottom 5 1/2" up forming a "pocket". The part of the rectangle that extends above the "pocket" will be referred to as the flap and will remain a single layer.
To join the front and back of the pocket section, attach a contrasting color at the bottom corner (where the fold is) with a slip stitch. Going through both layers, single crochet up the side of the purse. Once you reach the flap section, continue with sc up the side of the flap. When you get to the corner do 2 sc in the corner space, sc across the end of the flap, 2 sc in the corner sp and sc down the other side of the purse being sure to stitch through both layers when you get to the "pocket section". Fasten off and weave loose ends back into your work.
To make the button loop, on the end of the flap, count in 12 stitches and join with a slst, ch 8, sk next 4 sc and join wit a slst to the next sc. Fasten off and weave loose ends in.
Stitch on a button with a needle and thread so that the button is lined up with the loop. Fasten the loop around the button.
To make the handle, ch 54. Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. Fasten off. Attach one end of handle to each side of purse flap where it folds down.
