Materials and Supplies
Craft Supplies:
- Craft paper
- 1 - 2 Cotton balls
- Cinnamon
- Tacky glue or Elmer's glue
- String or twine
- Items to decorate your ornament such as glitter glue, markers, mini glitter shapes, yarn, googly eyes
Craft Instructions
- Put two layers of craft paper together one on top of the other.
- Trace the gingerbread shape onto the top piece of craft paper and cut out, cutting through both layers.
- Spread a layer of white glue on one side of one of the gingerbread shapes.
- Cut an 8" piece of string, fold it in half and knot the two ends together in an overhand knot. Place the knot on top of the glue at the top of your gingerbread man with the loop extending above your ornament. This will be your hanger.
- Rip apart a cotton ball and place the pieces on the glued area being careful not to get too close to the edges.
- Sprinkle cinnamon on the cotton.
- Place the second gingerbread shape on top of the first one sandwiching the cotton, cinnamon and knot inside. Carefully press down on the edges.
- Decorate your gingerbread man any way you like. Suggestions: Outline him with either glitter glue, markers or glue on yarn or ric rac. You can either draw on buttons or glue on mini glitter shapes or beads as buttons. Draw on a face or use googly eyes. Add a little color to the gingerbread man's cheeks by rubbing the side of a pink or red crayon on his cheeks. Just use your imagination and have fun.
Tip: If you don't have craft paper, try using a brown paper bag.
